About Us

Rooted in Tradition, Driven by Innovation
Rooted in Tradition, Driven by Innovation
Since 2006, our journey began in the heart of the Wepener district, where we first established our roots in professional Game Farming. What started as a passion for the land and its wildlife has since grown into a multi-faceted family enterprise built on resilience and a deep commitment to the South African farming community.
The challenges of 2020 became a turning point for us. In response to global shifts, we expanded into Online Auctions, providing a vital digital marketplace for farmers to market their game during uncertain times. This spirit of adaptation also led us to diversify our own pastures, introducing Indigenous Veld Goats, Sheep, Poultry, and even Goldfish to our agricultural portfolio.
What We Do Today
While our heritage remains firmly planted in the soil, our reach has expanded. Today, we specialize in:
- Monthly Antique & Collectible Auctions: Curated sales for the discerning collector, featuring everything from vintage “mancave” treasures to historical militaria.
- Livestock & Wildlife Auctions: Leveraging nearly two decades of industry expertise to help breeders and farmers achieve the best market value for their animals.
- Diverse Farming Operations: Continuing our legacy of breeding high-quality livestock and specialized poultry with a focus on hardy, indigenous breeds.
At our core, we remain a family-run business dedicated to heritage, hard work, and the future of South African agriculture. Whether you are looking for a rare collectible or high-quality breeding stock, we invite you to be a part of our story.
Our Values: The Heart of our Family Business
At the core of our operations is a simple belief: a business is only as strong as the family that builds it. Since 2006, our growth from a single farm in Wepener to a diverse five-pillar enterprise has been guided by a set of unwavering principles. These aren’t just words on a page; they are the lessons we pass down to our children every day.
1. Family Legacy & Passion
We believe that when you do what you love, excellence follows. By dividing our business into five specialized departments—Wildlife, Poultry, Fish, Goats, and Livestock—we have allowed each of our four children to lead with their own unique passion. This ensures that every animal and every auction lot is handled by someone who truly cares about its quality and future.
2. Generational Knowledge
Education starts in the kraal and the field. From a young age, our children have been immersed in the technical and practical details of their specific sections. This hands-on upbringing ensures that our clients benefit from deep, specialized expertise that only comes from growing up within the industry.
3. Resilience & Innovation
The challenges of 2020 taught us that true strength lies in the ability to adapt. We value the “can-do” spirit that allowed us to pivot toward Online Auctions when our fellow farmers needed a new way to market their game. We embrace modern technology to solve traditional farming challenges, ensuring our community stays connected and competitive.
4. Stewardship of the Land
As breeders of indigenous veld goats and South African wildlife, we respect the natural heritage of our country. Our value of stewardship means breeding hardy, sustainable livestock and managing our land in a way that honors the environment for the generations still to come.
5. Integrity in Every Bid
In our auction business, trust is our most valuable currency. Whether we are selling a rare antique collectible or high-quality breeding stock, we operate with total transparency. We treat every buyer and seller with the same honesty and respect we share around our own dinner table.
The Next Generation: Hands-On Expertise
At our farm, expertise isn’t just studied—it’s lived. Our four children, aged 10, 13, 15, and 18, are the heartbeat of our specialized divisions. While they are young, their resumes already include years of practical experience in the field and the kraal.
From a young age, each has taken ownership of a specific section, learning the intricate details required to run a successful agricultural enterprise.
From the Veld to the Veterinary Kit
Our children don’t just observe; they lead. Whether it is the precision and adrenaline of catching wildlife or the careful, patient work of doctoring our goats, they are involved in the daily grit and triumphs of farming.
- Wildlife Management: Learning the complexities of species behavior and stress-free capture.
- Small Stock Care: Developing the “stockman’s eye” to ensure the health and vitality of our goats and sheep.
- Specialized Breeding: Managing the unique requirements of our poultry and fish divisions with a focus on quality and growth.
A Legacy of “Learning by Doing”
We believe that the best way to understand a business is to be part of its challenges. By empowering our children to manage their own sections, we are ensuring that the future of our business is built on a foundation of deep technical knowledge and a genuine love for the land.
When you work with us, you aren’t just dealing with a company; you are engaging with a family that has dedicated their lives—from the youngest to the oldest—to the excellence of South African farming and auctions.

Jacobus (18)
Jacobus leads our small stock division with a focus on hardy, sustainable breeds. His passion lies in the breeding and management of Indigenous Veld Goats, ensuring that our stock is perfectly adapted to the Free State environment. He also manages our Rabbit farming operations, balancing the technical demands of animal husbandry with a deep commitment to quality.

Lisa (15)
The wildlife division is where the Dirsan story began in 2006, and Lisa is an integral part of its continued success. From the precision of passive capture to the daily management of our game, Lisa has developed a “veld-school” expertise. Her hands-on experience in the field ensures that our wildlife remains a premium pillar of our family business.

Dirk (13)
Dirk has taken the lead in our sheep division, demonstrating a keen eye for unique and high-value breeds. He is currently focused on our European Mouflon breeding program, as well as our broader sheep farming operations. His dedication to diversifying our livestock ensures that we remain at the forefront of specialized agricultural breeding.

Johan (10)
Our youngest manager, Johan, handles one of the most diverse sections on the farm. He is in full control of our Poultry, including specialized Venda and Boschvelder chickens, as well as Guineafowl and Turkeys. In addition to the feathers, Johan manages our Goldfish division, proving that attention to detail is a skill that can be mastered at any age.

The Parents – Auctions & Operations
While the children lead their respective sections, we (Mom and Dad) provide the framework that brings it all together. We manage the Online Auction platforms, the Monthly Collectibles auctions, and the overall strategic direction of the business, ensuring that our family’s hard work reaches farmers and collectors across the country.
A Family Partnership
“From catching wildlife to doctoring goats, our children have been part of the work since they could walk. When you deal with Dirsan, you are dealing with a family that knows every animal and every lot by heart.”
